Andy Egan is founder, Chairman and CEO of MaxBox Digital Retail Ltd. He established his company in 2000 and listed on AIM in 2004 as Felix Group plc.
Having originally developed and launched the unique Everyone’s A Winner sales promotion kiosk, Andy then moved Felix into the digital retail market with the MaxBox multi-function touch screen kiosk that was officially launched in 2006.
After a substantial period of R&D Andy subsequently took his company back into private ownership and re-branded as MaxBox Digital Retail Ltd in order to push through his business plan of rolling out the MaxBox digital retail kiosks across retail, leisure, and corporate sectors in the UK, Europe, Australasia and the Middle East.
Prior to establishing Felix and MaxBox Digital Retail Ltd Andy was a stuntman. After an injury terminated his stunt career, he moved into promotions and publicity for a number of blue chip companies including BP, BT and British Airways. He also worked on the publicity and promotions teams that launched the Euro Tunnel, and further was involved in the ambitious Orient Express rail/ hotel project in South America.
Andy is 43, married with four children and lives in Bowdon, Cheshire.
Why do you feel you would make a good Advisory Board member?
One of the main functions of the SSKA advisory board should be to provide a focal point for the industry and an opportunity to collate real facts and stats about product development, deployment of kiosks and trade and consumer buy-in. This will enable SSKA to provide a measure of the industry in order to predict trends for future development. Andy Egan would be well placed to contribute to this process as MaxBox Digital Retail Ltd place kiosks across all business sectors – from leisure, to high street retail, to corporate workplace – and also is a software developer and aggregator of a broad range of digital retail services which are vended via the MaxBox kiosks.
Andy Egan has operated in the kiosk and self service arena for 3 years has learnt many practical lessons along the way particularly in the UK marketplace. The lessons learnt include how to access customer buy-in, and how - through intelligent marketing, design and product development - to make your kiosk business future proof. Having developed the proposition in the UK, Andy Egan is now pushing forward with plans to expand distribution across Europe, Australasia and the Middle East.
Andy is a blue skies thinker and true entrepreneur and would add significantly to any debate about the development and twists and turns of the kiosk and self service industry.
